PROTEMA supported the company Brandenburger Isoliertechnik GmbH & Co KG to optimize all planning and order processing processes and to align these to best practices as preparation for the implementation of a new ERP software.
In the context of comprehensive measures to increase service quality and flexibility towards the customer, a multi-stage project was set up. The goal of the overall project was the complete digitalization of all planning and order processing processes. The digitalization should be achieved by an ERP solution (Enterprise Resource Planning) that operates as far as possible with standard functions.
1. First project phase: In order to use standard functions of an ERP software, which are offered as industry templates along all processes of the planning and ordering processing, in the administrative area and in the shop floor, were examined and redesigned in the first project phase. The aim of this two-year project phase was to consistently apply best business practices in industry and to optimize at the same time the processes. This project phase was completed within 23 months.
2. Next project phase: The target of a future project phase is adjusting the IT architecture. An essential part of this phase is the implementation of an ERP solution. The existing Enterprise Resource Planning and Production Planning System represents well the business transactions so far. However, more effective software functions are needed to implement the planned level of service.

Brandenburger Isoliertechnik GmbH & Co KG, based in Landau in the Palatinate, is the leading developer and manufacturer of thermal insulation solutions for a wide range of industries and applications. Under the motto "simply better insulated", the company has established itself as a specialist for thermal insulation systems in over 75 years of successful company history. Thanks to numerous international partners abroad, Brandenburger is also close to its customers.
Peter Schwab, Managing Director of Brandenburger Isoliertechnik GmbH & Co. KG, emphasizes:
It is not easy to recognize which business processes are optimum and which are just valued routines. It is even more difficult to keep track of which processes are supported by standard software and which are not. PROTEMA was a valuable help to recognize these interrelations. Within the two-year cooperation, we have jointly succeeded in achieving a fundamental optimization. In many workshops and on-site inspections, results were achieved through efficient facilitation and methodology, which are tangible for both employees and management and create tangible benefits.
It is difficult for companies to understand that long cherished processes can be further optimized and even standardized. Brandenburger took the chance to overcome this hurdle and trusted PROTEMA to find a working approach. With a lot of openness and trust from all team members, this hurdle could be overcome. The meeting on the same eye level was a lot of fun.
