The PROTEMA team was on hand to help KUKA AG, a leading supplier of robotics as well as plant and systems engineering, with the restructuring of its R&D product development process.
The purpose of the project was to restructure the R&D product development process. This called for the existing process to be adapted in order to secure future growth and to make sure that high-quality products could be developed rapidly and in line with market conditions. The project took into account the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) while guaranteeing product sustainability and providing professional customer service once the product has been launched. A high-level process plan was drawn up within 15 months, taking the SAFe into account. The associated process elements were devised in the course of interactive workshops and approved by the CTO (Chief Technology Officer). Employee training courses and briefings designed to build on this accompanied the roll-out of the new process to other relevant areas of the company.

Dr. Peter Killisperger, Head of R&D, Cluster Process & Infrastructure, commented:
The PROTEMA team employed outstanding workshop management to enable the project to devise a new development process based on the Scaled Agile Framework to get off the ground quickly. To achieve the goal of a standardized process landscape, they put their prowess in communication to good use and managed all the relevant interfaces and stakeholders. The content produced with the appropriate employees at various levels of responsibility was documented professionally. I am very impressed with the results of the project.
