Site Development, Plant and Logistics Structure

The current buyer's market calls for increasing product variety. Coupled with product life cycles that are becoming shorter and shorter, the increasing product variety simultaneously needs to be aligned with internal corporate goals and objectives, such as growth or the implementation of new product families. This situation requires an effective and adaptable production and logistics structure aimed at long-term plant development that addresses the needs of the market of the future.

Every plant development plan is based on defined strategic requirements to be met by the plant in the years ahead. Which location will serve which product family? What will the respective production quantities be? Are new production and logistics sites required or will the existing factories be expanded? Once these decisions have been made, plant engineering can begin. The greenfield approach allows new factories or logistics centers to be designed from scratch with their future needs in mind; the brownfield approach allows the potential of existing buildings to be leveraged – or a combination of the two is possible.

Plans for the future are made on the basis of the current situation and the defined plant development. The strategic orientation makes it possible to determine the layout of the individual functional areas and the associated requirements to be met, which in turn makes it possible to identify the aspects of the production and logistics structure requiring action.

Once both the plant development plan and the production and logistics structure have been described in full, the necessary construction work can be initiated. This involves drawing up specifications for buildings and their facilities, plus creating a schedule based on the master plan.

Talk to us. Benefit from our experience in site development and plant and logistics structures. We will provide you with an overall concept, from the strategic orientation of your plant to the associated plant development plan and the plant structure plan, which ultimately leads to the buildings and equipment plan. All of these from a single source and thus optimally coordinated with each other.

We help you to plan your plant and its structure and are on hand to assist you with any key questions concerning your plant and its location.
